This series details the day-to-day operations of the Senator's office as well as the numerous concerns of his constituents of the Third and Sixth Districts. 2. Election campaign records, 1956-1986. This series provides a view inside the election and re-election bids of the Senator. 3. Crime package, 1968-1987. This series consists of legislative actions, studies, and reports involving the Senator's concern over the growing crime rate in Michigan. 4. Senate Judicary Committee records, 1976-1986. These records detail the Senator's activities while serving as Chair of the Committee. 5. Media relations, 1973-1987. This series contains various news related information from the mass media.

Basil W. Brown was born March 20, 1927, in Vandalia, Michigan. His family moved to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1929. He was a graduate of Battle Creek's Central High School and won varsity letters in football and track while at Central. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged in 1946 after serving in the China Sea, Okinawa, and the Philippines. He has a B.A. degree from the Western Michigan College of Education and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan Law School...
